Free NYIT Summer Programs for Middle Schoolers

July 7, 2022
NYIT Summer Programs

NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences is hosting its annual free summer programs for all eligible middle school students. Registration begins now, and applicants are accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

The New York Tech Middle School Summer Maker Academy is offered by the NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences and School of Architecture and Design. It is a free in-person technology, engineering, and design summer academy for middle school students on both campuses, New York City and Long Island. Held within New York Tech’s on-campus Maker Spaces and the HIVE, 10–13 year-old students will engage in hands-on workshops designed to teach 3D modeling and printing, laser cutting/engraving, Arduino programming, and Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. The skills learned will prepare participants for the final challenge of building a tech-infused, environmentally friendly, low-impact Smart Car. This Smart Car must meet the main objectives set forth by UN Sustainability Goal #7, to “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.”

The camp runs August 8–12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at the desired campus of the participant. The final presentation is on August 12. Transportation will not be provided.

Registration can be completed here.
