Holocaust Survivor Marion Blumenthal Lazan Returns to Riverhead Middle School to Enhance Education and Empathy

Riverhead Middle School welcomed the return of Marion Blumenthal Lazan, a Holocaust survivor and acclaimed author, to share her powerful story of perseverance, bravery, and resolve with seventh grade students. Ms. Blumenthal Lazan’s captivating story, as well as her messages of kindness and peace, deeply resonated with our students, underscoring the notion that by studying and understanding history, we can engender a more compassionate future.

This assembly was a continuation of the Riverhead Central School District’s mission to promote and foster accepting, safe, and respectful learning environments while empowering empathetic leaders of tomorrow. First-hand accounts truly enrich learning experiences; all who attended are encouraged to share Ms. Blumenthal Lazan’s story—as well as those of all other Holocaust survivors they have heard from—with their friends, families, schools, and communities.

The district once again thanks Ms. Blumenthal Lazan for taking the time to speak with our students, faculty, and staff and for the incredible work she does worldwide to promote Holocaust awareness and education.
