Leaders of Tomorrow

March 5, 2021

The Riverhead Central School District is proud to announce that Riverhead High School students Tifany Perez, Cameron Rothwell and Alexandra Santoro have been appointed to serve as members of the Suffolk County Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Council for a term of two years.

The youth council is made up of 30 students who work to identify and prioritize issues that matter to Suffolk County youth, including education and careers, civic engagement, juvenile justice, environmental issues, youth violence and cyberbullying.

The students received the honor for their participation in the Riverhead Community Awareness Program, a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides alcohol and drug awareness programs to the Riverhead Central School District. The students are all part of CAP’s Peer Leadership Program and Riverhead Youth Coalition.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Alexandra, Cameron and Tifany,” said Christine Tona, the district’s interim superintendent. “I thank them for their leadership in the community and look forward to learning about the workshops that they will help design and facilitate. I am confident that they will do a fine job representing Riverhead.”

Riverhead High School Principal Sean O’Hara shared these sentiments, stating, “We are extremely proud of Alexandra, Cameron and Tifany.”
