Dear Blue Waves Families,
You may have heard of an off-campus incident that occurred involving two Riverhead High School students. As they walked back to the high school from an eatery in town, the students were followed by a silver pickup truck. The pickup truck stopped before the students reached the high school campus, and the driver asked the students for their social media profiles. The students ignored the driver and walked onto the school grounds and into the building. The students reported the incident to building administration and District security. The Riverhead Town Police were immediately notified and are currently investigating this incident.
Both students are safe after this off-campus incident. We want to make sure families are aware of this vehicle traveling in town. We also want to encourage parents and guardians to speak with their children about the importance of always traveling in groups when walking in town or anywhere on off-campus grounds.
