Led by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Aurelia Henriquez, the Riverhead community united during a rally for the Riverhead Central School District’s fair share of state foundation aid on Jan. 18.
Gathered at Riverhead Middle School, the large crowd bore signs and cheered on speakers who demanded that the state provide the district with the $31 million in aid it is owed. The aid would help fund needed staff, a nine-period day and an alternative high school.
“I am so proud of our community for coming together to fight for our fair share of foundation aid,” said Dr. Henriquez. “We will not stop until our voices are heard.”
