Over the last several weeks, students in Amelia Creedon’s library media class at Pulaski Street Elementary School have engaged with educators from the Long Island Museum via a livestream gallery program that coincides with the school’s social and emotional curriculum.

The focus of the remote field trip was to introduce students to LIM’s gallery collection. Through a multifaceted approach, educators presented live in front of historic vehicles, shared primary-source images of photos and newspapers through slideshows, and even screened short film clips of a New York City street scene from the 1890s.

“Through these lenses, students were able to delve into lessons surrounding social awareness, social justice and responsible decision making,” said Creedon. “It has been amazing to participate virtually in this experience and learn more about New York’s history.”
