On May 20, members of the Riverhead school community gathered at Aquebogue Elementary School to dedicate a new outdoor learning space in memory of Keri Stromski. Ms. Stromski was a beloved, longtime kindergarten teacher at Aqueboque who passed away last year after a battle with cancer.
Ms. Stromski’s family, friends, colleagues and students gathered for an intimate ceremony where they spoke about how Ms. Stromski touched the lives of many. In her honor, an outdoor learning space was unveiled. The space will enhance the academic and social-emotional learning opportunities for students for years to come.
At the end of the ceremony, students were invited to draw and write messages on the chalkboard, which is the centerpiece of the space. The ceremony celebrated Ms. Stromski’s life and her many contributions to the Riverhead Central School District.
