The Riverhead Central School District recently recognized the February/March recipients of the Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program, facilitated by Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Elementary Education Dr. Lori Koerner, at the February 28th Board of Education meeting.

Riverhead Central School District Honors Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program Recipients
The Riverhead Central School District recently recognized the January recipients of the Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program facilitated by Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Personnel Dr. Lori Koerner.
The month of January honorees are Aquebogue Elementary School teaching assistant Jean Harris, who was honored for her long and successful career of service to the children of Aquebogue as a teaching assistant; Riverhead High School security guard Pete Brown, recognized for his diligence in securing the hallways, support to teachers and being a great role model for our students; Phillips Avenue Elementary School physical education teacher Edwin Perry, honored for his efforts in organizing the Phillips Color Fun Run and The Breast Cancer Power Walk and serving as a great teacher, coach and mentor; and Pulaski Street Elementary School assistant principal Callan Lonergan, recognized for her ability to handle every issue with grace and integrity and her tireless work toward building community and creating an environment that fosters collaboration.

December Honorees
Riverhead Central School District Hosts Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program Ceremony
At the Dec. 14 meeting of the Riverhead Central School District Board of Education, the district held its monthly Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program Ceremony facilitated by Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Personnel Dr. Lori Koerner.
As part of the ceremony, the four esteemed Riverhead staff members were honored for their outstanding work and commitment to the students and staff of the district.
The month of December honorees are Aquebogue Elementary School maintenance mechanic Claude Pragliola, who was honored for his incredible dedication, hard work and selflessness, which is a model for collaboration and compassion; bilingual neighborhood aide Daniela Perez, who was recognized for her compassion, multilingualism and effort she puts forth in helping others; social worker Rafaela Vasquez, honored for her cheerful attitude and effortless efficiency and Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Brian Sacks, recognized for his positivity and optimism in the workplace and the work he does supporting the efforts of his fellow staff members.

November Honorees
Riverhead Central School District Hosts Inaugural Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program Ceremony
At the Nov. 30 meeting of the Riverhead Central School District Board of Education, the district held its first Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program Ceremony facilitated by Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Personnel Dr. Lori Koerner.
As part of the ceremony, which will take place at the second Board of Education meeting of the month, four esteemed Riverhead staff members were honored for their outstanding work and commitment to the students and staff of the district.
The month of November honorees are Philips Avenue Principal Debra Rogers, who was honored for her realistic and honest direction of the school building and her unwavering building leadership; Pulaski Street Elementary School ENL teacher Marisa DeSerio, recognized for her amazing mentorship and the respect she shows during the support of her students and colleagues; technology department clerical staff member Irene Irwin, recognized for her quick and calm approach to problem-solving and help within the department; and Roanoke Avenue Elementary School computer lab aide Gabriela Guzman, honored for her tireless work ethic, going above and beyond to assist the staff and students of the building.
