Riley Students Learn to Navigate Net Responsibly
The Riverhead Central School District school resource officers, Officer Kaley Castantine and Officer Eric Cohen, recently visited Riley Avenue Elementary School to teach the fourth graders about digital citizenship and Internet safety. Students learned about responsible and respectful conduct when using online platforms and grasped that once something is on the Internet, it is impossible to fully withdraw it. A hands-on demonstration was used to further this understanding, as student volunteers squeezed a tube of toothpaste and then realized they could not get the toothpaste to fully return to the tube.
