Riley Students Plant Pumpkin Seeds and Celebrate Agriculture

In celebration of National Agriculture Week, Riley Avenue Elementary School welcomed volunteers from the Cornell Cooperative Extension to its second-grade classrooms. Volunteers read the book The Pie That Molly Grew, which showcases the journey of a seed. Molly plants a pumpkin seed, nurtures the vine’s growth, and eventually harvests the pumpkin to bake into a pie. After learning about the growth process of plants, students engaged in a hands-on activity to plant their own pumpkin seeds.
