Riverhead Central School District Hosts Inaugural Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program Ceremony

December 3, 2021

At the Nov. 30 meeting of the Riverhead Central School District Board of Education, the district held its first Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program Ceremony facilitated by Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Personnel Dr. Lori Koerner.

As part of the ceremony, which will take place at the second Board of Education meeting of the month, four esteemed Riverhead staff members were honored for their outstanding work and commitment to the students and staff of the district.

The month of November honorees are Philips Avenue Principal Debra Rogers, who was honored for her realistic and honest direction of the school building and her unwavering building leadership; Pulaski Street Elementary School ENL teacher Marisa DeSerio, recognized for her amazing mentorship and the respect she shows during the support of her students and colleagues; technology department clerical staff member Irene Irwin, recognized for her quick and calm approach to problem-solving and help within the department; and Roanoke Avenue Elementary School computer lab aide Gabriela Guzman, honored for her tireless work ethic, going above and beyond to assist the staff and students of the building.

To earn recognition through the monthly Blue Waves Recognition and Appreciation Program, staff members submit a form nominating a fellow colleague for their extraordinary work as a staff member of the Riverhead Central School District.
