Riverhead CSD urges residents to participate in U.S. Census

February 5, 2020

Did you know census data is used to decide how much funding our region receives, including school districts? In mid-March, residents will begin receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census, which can be done via phone, online or through the mail. The Riverhead Central School District is urging all families to complete the 2020 Census to ensure Riverhead schools receive their fair share of funding through the next 10 years.

“It is imperative that our community accurately completes the 2020 Census,” Riverhead Superintendent of Schools Dr. Aurelia Henriquez said. “The information garnered through the census will be used to set funding levels for our schools through 2030. If our district is undercounted, we will be under-resourced for a decade. Our schools – our students – simply cannot afford another 10 years without adequate funding. I implore all residents to take part in the census.”

The district has set up a page on its website, www.www.riverhead.net, with important information regarding the census. Click “Census” under the Community dropdown.
