Riverhead High School Celebrates P.S. I Love You Day

March 14, 2022

Last month students across grade levels at Riverhead High School participated in P.S. I Love You Day, a day to raise awareness of mental health and the importance of reaching out to others, letting students know that they are not alone in their feelings, and that there is support in the building.

As part of the activities each morning after the pledge, a message of kindness was spoken over the loudspeaker. The guidance department organized a “Chalk the Walk” event where all students, faculty and staff were invited to share words and pictures depicting kindness and inclusion for all. The front and back walkways were filled with pictures and phrases to spread joy and uplift the school community.

Additionally, a huge purple balloon arch welcomed the students as they entered the building generously donated by the PTSO. After students passed through the arch, there was a table set up in front of guidance with markers and Post-it notes containing messages to inspire and pass along to friends and strangers.

The music department also collaborated in the celebration by playing music throughout the day to bring joy to students and staff.
