Riverhead High School ceramics classes and cooking club recently hosted the Empty Bowls fundraiser used to donate money to Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach, which provides a safe, warm temporary shelter to homeless individuals on the east end of Long Island, from November through March, utilizing volunteer houses of worship and congregation volunteers.
Selena Pagliarulo’s ceramics classes provided the lovely crafted bowls, which were for purchase. After the purchase, people were then given a ticket for soup, provided by Roberta MacGray and the cooking club. Some of the savory soup choices were loaded baked potato, minestrone, and cheddar and broccoli.
The delicious artisanal bread was donated by Blue Duck Bakery, and the event raised $1,700 through the outstanding student and staff effort.
