Riverhead High School Students Receive High AP Scholar Honors
55 Students Garner Recognition for Their Exceptional Academic Performance
RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2022) — Riverhead High School recently honored 54 of its students receiving various AP Scholar honors and three of its students who qualified for the College Board National Recognition Program based on their outstanding performances on the PSAT/NMSQT exam in 2021.
“I, along with the rest of the District, am proud of these students for their amazing academic achievements,” said Riverhead Central School District Superintendent Dr. Augustine E. Tornatore. “We continue to work diligently with our students in the pursuit of excellence in our wide array of AP courses and are thrilled to give them the opportunity to learn and thrive in these highly engaging environments.”
Thirty-four Riverhead High School students received the designation of AP Scholar, granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. Six students received the designation of AP Scholar with Honor, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Fourteen students received the designation of AP Scholar with Distinction, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
The three students who qualified for the College Board National Recognition Program are Amaya Hopkins, who received the National African American Recognition Award, and Jennifer Alonzo Moreno and Kimberly Mendez, who both received the National Hispanic Recognition Award. Jennifer is also an AP Scholar with Distinction, and Kimberly is an AP Scholar.
Riverhead High School and all of the Riverhead Central School District extend their congratulations to these students for their incredible accomplishments and look forward to seeing their continued academic success and leadership.
