Riverhead High School’s Alexis Ré Continues to Garner Soccer Honors

Senior Star Named to Newsday’s All-Long Island team and the NYSSCOGS All-State Second Team

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (DECEMBER 2023) — Riverhead High School senior soccer player Alexis Ré continues to receive accolades for her talent, as she has been named to Newsday’s 2023 All-Long Island Girls Soccer Team and to the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches’ Organization for Girls Sports (NYSSCOGS) 2023 All-State Second Team.

“She is a player that always puts in 100 percent effort and continues to look for ways to improve upon her already phenomenal success,” said Riverhead High School girls varsity soccer coach Kasey Mandery. “She is an outstanding leader and role model for the younger players and has been a huge part of the upward trend the girls soccer program is currently experiencing.”

In the 2023 season, Alexis led Long Island in goals, with 32, and in points, with 35, in only 15 games. She had at least one goal in 11 of the 15 games as well as eight games with multiple goals. She also became the third Long Island girls soccer player to score at least 30 goals in the regular season since 2016. Throughout the season, Alexis’ skills and achievements were the focus of articles by Newsday and local Riverhead press, and she entered the 2023 season named to Newsday’s list of the top 100 girls soccer players on Long Island.

“Alexis has been an outstanding representative of the dedication and teamwork we teach and value in our district,” said Riverhead Central School District Interim Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich. “Congratulations to her on these honors, and we look forward to continuing to support her academic and athletic journey.”

Alexis has amassed enough credits to graduate Riverhead High School this winter and will attend West Virginia University upon this graduation, beginning classes for the spring semester. She will play on the West Virginia University women’s soccer team and has achieved a full scholarship—half academic and half athletic.
