This summer, the Riverhead Central School District partnered with SCOPE Education Services to offer a Summer Enrichment Program for Riverhead students during the month of July.
Students who completed kindergarten through sixth grade were invited to register for enrichment classes that provided opportunities to strengthen skills and explore new interests. Students entering first grade were stimulated with engaging stories, music and crafts in “Read All About It” and explored nature, creating art and crafts with their findings in “Fun With Nature.”
Students entering second and third grades combined creativity and environmentalism by taking everyday items that would normally be thrown out or recycled and turning them into masterpieces in “Upcycling Art.” At the fourth through sixth grade level, some students explored computer science and learned what’s involved in creating video games and animations, while others worked with Riverhead’s music teachers to improve their skills playing musical instruments.
All age groups had additional options that included science, technology, engineering, math and invigorating fitness classes. Most importantly, students had fun and made new friends while they engaged in the plethora of educationally enriching lessons and activities.
