September 27, 2021

On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Riverhead High School football team took to the Coach Mike McKillop Memorial Field for their homecoming game against Central Islip to the roar of cheers from family and friends in attendance.

The celebratory day filled with school spirit began with the homecoming parade, which included students, staff, administrators, members of the Board of Education, local fire departments and police officers. The parade procession marched down Main Street to the field where the game began.

Following a hard-fought game, the Blue Waves emerged victorious, defeating Central Islip 22-12 to improve their record to 2-1. To celebrate their win, and as part of a longstanding tradition for the team, the Blue Waves rang the victory bell located at Pulaski Street Elementary School.
