Riverhead’s Adriana Martinez Named to Newsday’s Top Girls Volleyball Players List

Senior Setter Continues to Achieve On and Off Court

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (OCTOBER 2025)—Riverhead High School senior setter Adriana Martinez was named to Newsday’s Top 100 Long Island High School Girls Volleyball Players. A standout student-athlete, Adriana has achieved remarkable success on the court and in the classroom.

“As the team’s starting setter last season, Adriana tallied 269 assists, 128 digs, 39 kills, and 19 aces,” said Riverhead High School girls volleyball coach Nicole Orfanitopoulos. “She has truly showcased her versatility and leadership on the court.”

In addition to Adriana’s achievements on the volleyball court, she thrives in the classroom and on the softball field. She is ranked 31st academically in her class and is an accomplished member of the Blue Waves varsity softball team. During the spring 2025 season, Adriana received All-County softball honors and served as a key contributor to the team’s Suffolk County Championship victory and second consecutive league title.
