Riverhead’s Dwayne Morgan Takes First in Competitive St. Anthony’s Invitational

Senior Named One of Long Island’s Best Track and Field Athletes

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (MAY 2026)—Riverhead High School senior Dwayne Morgan continues to achieve remarkable success on the track. He recently took first place in the 400-meter hurdles at the 54th St. Anthony’s Invitational, and his time of 56.56 seconds is ranked eighth overall in New York State. He was also named to Newsday’s list of the top 50 Long Island high school boys outdoor track and field athletes of the 2026 season.

“The St. Anthony’s Invitational is one of the most competitive meets in the region,” said Riverhead High School boys varsity track and field head coach Tyler Lobenhofer. “It features over 100 teams from public, private, and out-of-state programs.”

Entering the spring season, Dwayne’s time of 14.91 seconds for the 110-meter hurdles was the fourth-best among Long Island’s returning runners, and his 56.50-second time in the 400-meter hurdles was a top-20 returning time in the state. Newsday recognized him as the fourth-best returning athlete in the high hurdles for the outdoor track season, noting his outstanding ability to “handle the height of the hurdles regardless of the race distance.”

Dwayne was also named to Newsday’s list of the top 50 Long Island high school boys indoor track athletes of the 2025-2026 season. He captured second place in the 55-meter hurdles at the Suffolk County boys indoor track championships and ran a personal best time of 7.74 seconds.
