Roanoke Avenue Teacher Awarded Tanger Grant
Elementary Intervention Specialist Lisa Nappe Aims to Improve Students’ Educational Experience
RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (SEPTEMBER 2022) — An elementary intervention specialist from Roanoke Avenue Elementary School was recently awarded the prestigious Tanger Grant to improve her students’ academic abilities and experience. Lisa Nappe, who works with students at Roanoke Elementary School who need extra support in mathematics, applied to the TangerKids Grant program with her grant project, “Making Sense of Math.”
“My grant project’s goal is to create a more engaging and positive learning environment to help my students bridge the gaps in their math achievements,” said Ms. Nappe. “I explained how math games, math manipulatives, toolkits, organization materials and a new easel would benefit students’ learning abilities and experience. With the grant, I can now purchase these resources!”
Ms. Nappe was awarded the $1,000 check and congratulations in the grant presentation by Tanger Outlets at Roanoke Avenue Elementary School.
The TangerKids Grant program, founded by Tanger Outlets, has operated since 1996 and awards grants to teachers and educational leaders creating more inclusive and productive learning environments for all students. The program’s mission is to provide access for students to succeed in the classroom today and be shaped into the dedicated leaders of tomorrow.
Riverhead Central School District is incredibly proud of Ms. Nappe for receiving this grant and looks forward to seeing the new resources benefit our students and community.
