Roanoke Students Explore Stormwater Process
On a particularly rainy day, Roanoke Avenue Elementary School welcomed Cornell Cooperative Extension to teach third-grade students about the Suffolk County Stormwater Management Program. Students learned about the local watershed, the storm drain system, and the effects of water pollution on the marine ecosystem. They also explored how to reduce and prevent local watershed pollution. Through hands-on activities and an engaging topic that tied directly to the Riverhead community, the lesson left a profound impact on the students.
