Earlier this month, Aquebogue first and second graders embarked on a scientific exploration in the school’s courtyard, led by teacher Ms. Mary Cipriano.
Students have been learning about the different types of plants and insects that appear during the spring. They reviewed life cycles of both plants and insects and are preparing to observe their very own classroom caterpillars. Ms. Cipriano brought the lesson outdoors to build upon this unit and study the different bugs that students predicted would be in the courtyard. At the end of the activity, students recalled the information that was gathered with the support of symbols.
