Star Riverhead Student-Athletes Honored With Butch Dellecave Award

Blue Waves Seniors William Healy and Kyleigh Lennon Recognized for Academic and Athletic Success

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (JUNE 2026)—Riverhead High School seniors William Healy and Kyleigh Lennon were named Riverhead Central School District’s recipients of the prestigious Butch Dellecave Award this year. One of Suffolk County’s most distinguished athletic honors, the Butch Dellecave Award is presented annually to one female student-athlete and one male student-athlete from each Suffolk school district. The award recognizes students who excel in athletics, academics, and community service.

“William and Kyleigh have distinguished themselves through their dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field,” said Melissa Edwards, Riverhead Central School District’s director of health, physical education, and athletics. “Congratulations to both of them! They embody the values of Riverhead athletics and have represented Riverhead beautifully.”

During his time as a Blue Wave, William was a member of the football, basketball, and lacrosse teams. In the fall, he will attend Western Connecticut State University to continue his academic and football careers. Kyleigh played field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse at Riverhead High School. This fall, she will attend Wingate University and play on the school’s lacrosse team.

“We are incredibly proud of William’s and Kyleigh’s accomplishments and wish them continued success in the future,” said Ms. Edwards.
