Roanoke Avenue Elementary School students recently gathered outside of the school building in excitement as they celebrated the success of the annual Roanoke Reading Challenge.
As part of the celebration, building principal Thomas Payton agreed to have water balloons thrown at him if the students collectively read over a designated number of minutes. To the students’ delight, they surpassed their goal and collectively read more than 100,000 total minutes. Mr. Payton rewarded them by honoring the challenge.
