Riverhead Middle School students Ella Kaparos and Christian Vande Wettering were honored on March 23 for earning the New York State Attorney General’s Triple “C” Award. The socially distanced ceremony was held at Pulaski Street Elementary School.
Kaparos and Vande Wettering earned the award just prior to the closure of schools last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, they attended Pulaski Street Elementary School as sixth graders.
“We are so proud of these Pulaski graduates,” said Pulaski Street Principal Patrick Burke. “We wanted to honor them and extend our congratulations.”
The Triple “C” award recognizes student leaders who display courage, character and commitment.
“These students provide us with hope for a brighter future,” said Attorney General Letitia James.
