Three Riverhead High School Student-Athletes Named to Newsday‘s Top 100 Softball Players

Riverhead High School students Mya Marelli, Jordyn Kwasna, and Sophia Viola were selected to Newsday’s list of the top 100 Long Island high school softball players for the 2025 season. After an undefeated regular season and league title in 2024, the Blue Waves look forward to another successful run this year.

Senior pitcher and outfielder Mya Marelli earned Newsday all-Long Island first team honors last year, with a 0.91 ERA and 221 strikeouts, as well as a .475 batting average, 1.316 OPS, three home runs, and 20 RBIs at the plate. She was also named the Suffolk Large Schools Pitcher of the Year. In 2024, junior outfielder and third baseman Jordyn Kwasna hit .483 with a 1.385 OPS, three home runs, 24 RBIs, 20 runs, and five stolen bases. Sophomore outfielder and catcher Sophia Viola delivered a .458 batting average with a 1.031 OPS, 25 runs, and 13 stolen bases.
