As a creative way to unify Riverhead High School, art teacher Jo-Ann Dellaposta has kicked off a schoolwide expressive art project.
“I wanted to show students and staff that we are not alone and we all feel similarly,” said Dellaposta.
For the project, students and staff are encouraged to draw a one-word image on a 3.5-inch card that expresses how they are feeling. The cards, so far, reveal a collective sentiment of the struggles caused by COVID-19.
The cards will soon be displayed in the school’s hallway along a background of a blue wave. Dellaposta hopes that anyone who has not yet contributed will be inspired to add to the mural.
